Everything your organisation knows, held where you own it.
Your terminology, your grade rules, your policy and the decisions behind them — governed, versioned and permissioned, outside any AI model.
Context Engine is the component of MemEx Intelligence, built by Wattle, that holds an organisation's own knowledge as a governed asset it owns — independent of whichever AI reads it.
Most of what an organisation knows is not in a database. It is in policy documents, in minuted decisions, in the way a rule is applied in practice rather than as written, and in two or three people's heads. That is why every new tool has to be taught the organisation again, and why every report needs a person to interpret it.
What it holds
Held as governed documents, organised by subject, kept in version control.
Business Context — what your organisation knows, written down
Business Context is the organisation's own account of itself, authored as governed documents: your terminology, your grade rules, how renewals actually work, what "engaged" means in your reporting, which rules apply to which service, and why a decision was taken and what it superseded.
Subjects — context that knows what it is about
Context is organised by subject rather than kept in one pile, so material about membership grades is retrievable as membership-grade context and does not compete with everything else for the model's attention. Context is owned by the person responsible for that area.
Version history — what the organisation believed six months ago
Held in version control: every change has an author, a date and a diff. So when a rule is questioned — in an appeal, at a Council meeting, or a year later when nobody remembers why it was set that way — you can show what the organisation believed at the time, and when it changed.
